Eating & drinking
Chickens eat seeds from the trough (any seeds, or other farm animal food), and peck at it.
A hay bale fills a Feed Trough (6 servings); its usual food, apples, or other farm animal food adds one serving each. Kibble doesn't go in troughs.
To eat, it walks up to the side of the trough and puts its head down over the rim, nibbling. Troughs placed side by side join into one long trough, so a whole herd can eat at once.
Sleeping
When it gets tired (or at night, if it's Idle) it roosts right where it is: it hunkers down with its legs tucked in. It doesn't use perches or pet beds.
Life as a pet
A chicken hunkers down to roost, legs tucked under it, wherever it gets tired. It pecks at its food and flutters its wings when you pet it.
Its favourite kibble doesn't go in troughs, so it only gets it from your hand. Hand it some Seed Mix for an extra happy chicken.
Tips
- One trough per few animals is plenty: troughs hold 6 servings and a hay bale fills one completely.
- Set the herd to Idle in the middle of its field so it stays within 12 blocks of its troughs.
