Warming up in lava
Every minute or two an Idle strider that isn't too tired walks into lava within 10 blocks (or stays in the lava it's already in) and soaks up the warmth for about ten seconds, chirping. It cheers it up (
Mood).

Eating & drinking
It eats from a food bowl and drinks from a water bowl or a pond. In the Nether there are no ponds, so give it a water bowl and fill it with a bucket or bottles.
Any kibble or a hay bale fills a Food Bowl (4 servings); any other food adds one serving. A water bucket fills a Water Bowl, a water bottle adds two servings.
Tips
- Set its home next to a lava pool so it can warm up whenever it likes.
- While you ride it with a warped fungus on a stick, it simply goes where you steer.
