Animals
All 34 vanilla animals can be pets, and each one behaves like itself. Pick an animal to see how to adopt it, what it needs, where it eats, drinks, sleeps and goes to the toilet, and what it does on its own.
How to adopt: animals you can tame in vanilla (wolves, cats, parrots, horses, donkeys, mules, llamas, nautiluses...) become your pet automatically once tamed. Every other animal: use a Pet Collar on it.
House pets
Dog (Wolf)Fetches, goes for walks, uses a pee pad or the garden, and waits at the door to go out.
CatLitter box, cat tree, feather wand, kneading and purring. Hates baths.
OcelotA wild cat that lives like a house cat once adopted.

Babies of every species live like the adults. Kittens, puppies and fox kits also play-fight with each other and chase their tails.
Who can't be a pet?
Only animals in the game's "animal" family can be pets. Dolphins, squid and glow squid, fish, tadpoles, allays, bats, villagers and golems can't: the Pet Collar does nothing on them. Tadpoles can be adopted once they grow into frogs.
