Mule
Mules live like horses: troughs or grass, lying down to sleep, and the brush instead of petting. Like a donkey, a mule can carry a chest.
- Horse family
- Troughs or grass
- Lies down
- Brush, don't pet
| Becomes a pet | If you tamed it the vanilla way it becomes your pet automatically. Otherwise use a Pet Collar on it (that tames it too). |
|---|---|
| Needs | |
| Eats | From a Feed Trough; without one it grazes on grass (within 10 blocks). Never from pet bowls. |
| Drinks | From a Water Trough; without one, from a pond, river or lake (within 10 blocks). |
| Favourite kibble | None |
| Hand-feed with | Its usual food (wheat, apples, sugar, hay, golden carrots...), or Pet Kibble |
| Toilet | None: only cats, ocelots, dogs and foxes have a bladder need. |
| Sleeps | Lies down where it is (or on its Rest Spot). It doesn't use pet beds. |
| Plays | Chases a thrown Pet Ball and noses it around. |
| Can sit | No: on Stay it just stands still. |
| Petting | Sneaking with an empty hand opens its inventory, as in vanilla. Use a Pet Brush to bond with it instead. |
Eating & drinking
A mule uses troughs, never pet bowls, and grazes or drinks from a pond when there's no trough nearby.
A hay bale fills a Feed Trough (6 servings); its usual food, apples, or other farm animal food adds one serving each. Kibble doesn't go in troughs.
Sleeping
A tired mule lies down where it is, front legs first, like a horse.
Getting one
Mules come from breeding a horse with a donkey. If the parents are your pets, the foal is your pet too; if they belong to two players, it's whoever fed them. A mule can't be bred itself.
Tips
- Sneak + empty hand opens its inventory (saddle and chest), so groom it with the Pet Brush instead of petting.
- Leave it on Idle in a paddock with troughs and it looks after itself.
